By the Numbers

After much reflection, study, analysis and discussion with community members, The Pittsburgh Foundation adopted a new strategic plan early this year that challenges the Foundation to generate assets and deploy them deliberately to create a vibrant, equitable and just Pittsburgh region.

To meet that challenge, the Foundation relies on the generosity of donors, the dedication of the Foundation’s staff and board of directors, and the assistance of civic partners, including business and government leaders. That collaboration and hard work is illustrated in the numbers in the charts and graphs on this page.

Last year’s fundraising totaled $45.7 million. Those new gifts are vital to helping the Foundation realize the vision in the strategic plan of a region in which each person, regardless of race, identity or circumstance, can thrive and fulfill their potential. Those gifts ensured that the Foundation and its supporting organizations had the capacity to grant a total of $70 million to 2,850 nonprofits.
